The lab launches tonight and that means goodbye summer. Our fall youth ministry kicks off with a outdoor concert, inflatables, bbq, and more and hopefully we have a hundred students show up and its a crazy awesome mess. It doesnt get much more exciting than that. This summer i surfed for the first time, broke my glasses three times, went camping five times, blew a tire out on the i-5, got a new camera, went to a couple weddings, and had a pretty good time. I look forward to what the fall has in store.

Soon after Katrina and I started dating I was talking to my sister Kimberly about my girlfriend and we came to the conclusion that we didnt like(or I didnt like) the term girlfriend. “Girlfriend” has a lot of uncommitted connotations and they seem to come and go all the time. When I started dating Katrina I saw traits, behaviors, and heart that I wanted to live with for the rest of my life. So the decision was made to refer to Katrina as the FW. The Future Wife. Pronounced ffffwwwwww. Katrina actually knew we called her that fairly quickly after we came up with the title and she would sometimes use it on notes and when ending letters. It was risky to call her my future wife when we had started dating but I didnt want it to be anything less. That was the plan so why treat it like less than that. Now we have been married almost 6 months and its going pretty good. I guess its time to find Kimberly a FH.

It is snowing pretty good today, I am sitting in my office looking out my french doors watching it come down. My new(used) winter tires seemed to work really well this morning, lets hope they get me home safely as well tonite.

its interesting to think about our habits and tics. the little things we do without thinking about it. the way we like to perform tasks. the particular locations that we feel our items belong.
here is some of the things that always happen at my work:
if its cold or hot outside I start my car a few minutes before I am leaving to get the engine warmed up and the temperature where I want it
I put my work cell phone and keys into the same compartment in my car everyday
when i am setting up my call forwarding at the end of the day(to forward my office # to my work cell #) I make a clicking noise with my mouth into the phone and have one phone to each ear to make sure the call was received properly and my call forwarding will work.
I always make sure my gate is secured at work when I open in the morning, the wind swings the gate and it can snag trucks and get broken

and at home:
I check my email(personal and work) on the drive to work every morning
I check my email before bed
I always put two pillows onto my chair in the office when I am gonna play online games cause my desk is too high for my chair(someone broke my keyboard tray a long time ago or it would be fine)
When I am starting my video games on my pc I run to grab milk or another drink so I am ready to play
my work clothes go behind the door so they arent in the way
if their is something i am trying to think of while watching a show(like what other show that actor was on) I will pause the show right then and figure it out. i cant have it bugging me and cannot be patient enough to wait till the end of the show

the car:
i sometimes try to be not pushy and end up not getting into the turning lane I wanted and then have to spend a couple minutes getting back to same intersection to get back on route
the only place I put my e-brake on is at home
I open the drivers window at least 6 inches if its raining or foggy(inside) and I cant see the crosswalk clearly when at a stop sign
i throw paperwork in the car all the time(leaving it there for months), hoping it will sort itself and end up somewhere useful(or maybe it will disappear so I dont need to worry about it)

thats all I have for now.

Just over a week ago i started listening to straylight run, and then a few days later we were at Value Village and guess what? Straylight Runs’ first album for $2.99, not scratched at all, pretty sweet.

Christmas is coming soon and its getting exciting, lots of family and friends and fun.
And I think we will film another music video over the holidays

The First of the Century

Straylight Run, started by some former members of one of my favourite bands Taking Back Sunday has found itself on my playlist. And this song The First of the Century just gets me excited, its very full of energy and passion.

“You know
You can be
The first of
This century
To bleed through
To find truth
To know what
You should do
You know
It could be
Anything
Sometimes (sometimes)
You might find (you might find)
A crack or (a crack or)
A fault line (a fault line)
But dressed down (but dressed down)
Or made up (or made up)
You’ll find (you’ll find)
A real love (a real love)
A place to
Come home to
At night
So what did we pay for
And why did we care
What were we after
And why was it there
Desire gave way to a false sense of hope
And we fell for the lie that its what we all chose
And I yelled to my friends, “It’ll all be OK!”
But they didn’t believe me
They still don’t today
They never do anything the haven’t before
In the same
In the same solemn room with no lock on the door and over and over and over again
The same failed solutions to all the same problems
They scream “Why? Why? I can’t understand
Why the things that I do never go as I’ve planned!”
And the vultures begin
Their slow circling
The dogs lick their teeth
Bright white and gleaming
But just hold your tongue
Barely begun to fight until now
Let’s see what you’ve got
This wide open shot
Take it or leave it
Cause we’re getting out
We’re getting out alive
And you’ll never
Find us again
You’ll never find us again”

This weekend I have 3 parties/hangouts, one for each evening.

I am not playing day of defeat source any more really, trying out Call of Duty 5:World at War and still playing the Empires mod for hl2. Day of Defeat has kinda died off in the clan I am in.

Today is one of those days that really could go either way. It is definitely not one of those regular days(obviously not cause i’m posting on my blog), its one of those days where you feel and think more than usual, you wonder about the future and the past. I feel pretty mellow right now but the taste of energetic outbursts is starting to come, so who knows, maybe it will be a great day. Christmas is coming and I have so much stuff to figure out, and its really fast. I have two dentist appointments booked in december, yay.

In the last month I have played bass a few times, fixed indievisionmusic and taking-over twice from server problems infecting their site with malware. I bought some sweet shirts and cds from death is not welcome here(who have broken up) at killer good prices, even getting shipped from the UK. The canucks have been on a great streak, floor hockey is done for a month. I had my big toe on my left foot crack about 1/3 of the toenail off, quite fun. This week at floorhockey I put my face into a teammates shoulder and cut the inside of my cheek, makes it hard to give the wife a good kiss. Speaking of the wife she opened on tue, wed, thur at 5am at work this week, meaning I drove her to work at that time. Its been a long week.
I have signed up for another college course for the spring, Business Law on wednesday evenings.

go listen to the The First of the Century.

So sometimes I feel like writing, and sometimes I am just not in the mood. Months ago I was taking a marketing course at kwantlen and our final project was writing a marketing proposal for clothing manufacturer lululemon. You can read it here: http://bluekey.backpackit.com/pub/1439370
I wrote almost all of it in around 6 hours the night before class. We got an great mark on it. :-)

Ive been working on fixing/updating/keeping our new married budget lately. I use wesabe to categorize and tag purchases, set spending targets, and chat with other wesabeans. It is a great way to watch where your money goes and is very flexible, you use the tool to create your own budgeting system. Keeping up to date is very easy once your are set up and familiar with wesabe.

We went for a roadtrip to kelowna two weeks ago for the long weekend. Very fun. Played settlers a bunch of times, went to a barbecue, “hiked” to a waterfall, swam a few times, visited a bunch of people, it was a really good trip.

Anyone who wants to do some smart reading should check out my buddy bryans site: http://www.katagraphais.com/. He does translations of sections of the bible, questions parts that he finds interesting, and shares his thoughts on various theological topics. Plus hes a really cool guy and used to help out with musicrefuge.com(RIP)

It doesnt have to be this way. Whisper it to yourself.

Now say it to the wall. It Doesnt Have To Be This Way

IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY. Scream it.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 6 or above) is required to play this audio clip. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Think about it.

Who says that this is how life was meant to be? Who told you that your life had to consist of a job, car, house, kids, wife, mortage, guilt, shame, sin, debt, lust, greed, envy, gossip, selfishness? Who made those rules? Is that the only way to live? Are we stuck in the sinful life, living for ourselves all because of Adam and Eve? Is their more? Can our lives be better? Can we live for something bigger than ourselves, for others? Can we do more good?

Is my life already decided for me? Will I ever have a life full of what God wants? Will I always have friends that disappoint me? Will the families around me always be broken? Is this the great plan God has for the world?

No No No No No. IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY. This is the world us sinful creatures manufactured to please ourselves. This isnt the best, this isnt the greatest, and this isnt the fullest life I can have. Their is more. Do you want it? Do you feel like something is wrong and something is broken and something isn’t right? Fix it. Change It. Don’t settle for less than what God has for you and for us. Dont accept the worlds counterfeit love, counterfeit happiness, and counterfeit pleasure for the true love, true joy, and true pleasure God created us to take part in.

It Does Not Have To Be This Way. Do something.

your seeing things after they happen

im getting married in less than a month. i am sitting in my empty room. its packed up and my truck is loaded with all my stuff. the people moving into this place are here and laying down some new floor. i cant move into my new place till later tonite. the cleaning people are coming at 6. so i sit here and wait. the internet will be the last thing i pack up. i am really hungry but everything in my fridge pretty much needs dishes or cutlery to eat. i can eat cheese, but it has left a funny taste in my mouth so i dont want any more.

i will miss the size and brightness of this room, and having a garage to park my car in. the new place is nicer, newer, and cleaner. i have too much stuff.

ive gotten myself more organized at work, which means my yard and office are much cleaner and I want to keep it that way, no excuses.

exploring and learning new things is fun. this weekend i drove the big steel box truck for the first time, driving something 30′ long is an adventure. and learning how to use sliding/tilting decks and winches is very cool. i slid a 20′ container off the back of my truck and onto the ground, making it a lot easier to load stuff into. then once all of it was packed into the container i pulled the container back up from the ground onto the truck deck and its strapped down. everything i own is inside that box or in my car. is that my worth?
